Right now i am using Mint but Cinnamon. Like it so far. It is so far
easy to use and not much needs to be done.
So Mint would be my choice if no openSUSE is there.

Mageia because they have a nice KDE implementation. Also I really like urpmi and all the drakconf tools.

Probably Mageia (or Mandriva if it's still viable as they seem to always be on the cusp of disappearing) because they use rpms(familiarity) and they have a Yast like tool

Arch sounds interesting but a bit more of a change then I'd be interested in
openSUSE Leap 42.1 x64, Plasma 5 & KDE 4.14.x, pretty current proprietary Nvidia drivers (self-compiled)

I voted Fedora, because that is what I would try first and because there was no option for salix. I actually installed Salix lxde on my girlfriends laptop (bought in 2004) and she was impressed by its performance (it was no hard task to impress here though, since she had a hp-bloated windows xp on it before). Since they have a kde vesion I would give this a try.

Fedora was actually the first live-cd I ever tried when I was considering my move to linux (excluding knoppix of course, which I always used as a rescue distro)...but then I decided to install Opensuse (10.3 that was, because of the nicer wallpaper ) and never saw a reason to change distro.

I would go for CentOS or PClinuxOS.

Mageia, no contest. Mageia like Mandriva has the DrakX tool which is very similar to YaST. However, Mageia achieves being a better and more reliable platform than Mandriva which it was spun off of. Mageia is what Mandriva should have been.
