Thread: Automatic suspend not working in 12.1 kde

  1. #1

Default Automatic suspend not working in 12.1 kde

I am able to manually suspend the system fine. It's also worked in the past on it's own before under a previous install but was likewise a little flaky and sometimes messed up. However I am noticing now that the suspend function does not seem to be working. The lcd monitor dimming and power saving seems to work as does the screensaver but the system does not automatically suspend,

In Configure Desktop -> Hardware -> Power Management I have:

    Power profiles:

    Dim display: 5 minutes
    Screen Energy saving: 12 minutes
    Suspend session: 15 minutes (suspend)

Performance is the only profile I have (Desktop).

I have verified that powerd is disabled. If it matters I notice KDE is still configured at the default to resume sessions. Perhaps this is related?

Any ideas on what else I should check? I didn't see anything relevant in YaST but perhaps I missed it. A forum search yielded no clues for me.

Also I do not have ktorrent or any other relevant app with options to suppress suspend AFAIK.

First try to see if it can manually suspend.

    Hello.
Yes it can manually suspend fine. It seems to be the automatic time based function which does not work. And the odd thing is sometimes it does work but I have not found a pattern yet for when it does and does not work.

Then I can not help further, I don't know how kde is supposed to handle this.

Thanks for trying anyway. I have rebooted into a new session and I notice it happened to work fine just a few minutes ago. But previously after manually telling it to sleep last night I noticed it failed to properly blank the screen upon resume as it usually does. I guess I will have to search the bug reports more thoroughly and run some tests/check the logs more and see if I can find out what is happening. If anyone else is seeing this or has further information please let me know.

edited: Also upgrading to KDE 4.8 alone did not appear to solve this either.
