Default Cinnamon available for openSUSE users

Good news for openSUSE users that like the Cinnamon desktop found in Linux Mint: Cyberorg (User:Cyberorg - openSUSE) has created openSUSE repo`s for version 12.1, Factory and Tumbleweed of the Cinnamon desktop. A tutorial on how to install it is available here openSUSE:GNOME Cinnamon - openSUSE. Current version is 1.1.3; hope to see 1.2 soon.

I created this topic to get some attention on this subject since Cinnamon looks like really promising and openSUSE could use another option among the other desktop options currently available. Personally i propose that users interested in this should install this desktop in a virtual machine, test it and provide feedback here in order for the developer to improve it.

so, i'm trying to figure out what it is....i read a little and decide it
is Gnome3 amended to looks/act like Gnome2, right?

which causes me to wonder why the KDE3 Luddites didn't think of that also..

Yes, another Gnome 3 fork with a Gnome 2 look.

Regarding the other thing you said, i don`t know what to say about it.

I'm glad to hear that Cinnamon is available for openSUSE. I've been quite pleased with it on my netbook.
    I'm confused...No, wait...Maybe I'm not...

Today's morning I asked on #opensuse-gnome if someone was doing Cinnamon, and no one knew for sure... so I did packaged the 1.2 version, fixed a few things and moved it to a repo... Later I found out that someone had been working on it before... so I can't push my Cinnamon stuff to openSUSE:Factory neither I can use the GNOME:Cinnamon repo until we sort this and I can contact the other maintainer.

I'm running 1.2 (local builds) and waiting for the testing repo to finish the publishing (waiting all day, for almost 10 hours, OBS slow today). Once it's done... people can test it and report bugs to me (#opensuse-gnome on freenode, or by mail nmarques_AT_fedoraproject_org).

    1 CLICK installer > openSUSE 12.1
    * http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...on-testing.ymp

    Only for 12.1 for now.

While searching OBS i did found that you Ketheriel have done a Cinnamon repo too(kinky ). I hope that someone gets in touch with Cyberorg so both of you can work at Cinnamon to push at least in Factory. I will give 1.2 a try in Vbox in report back in a few days

    Hi

I've spoke with Cyberorg already and I'm moving onwards with Cinnamon, so expect a clean release soon from an official GNOME repository and there's a huge shot it will become integrated with openSUSE:Factory soon...

I will file also a request for a 'Cinnamon' spin (to which I hope to deploy something 'new').

openSUSE Build Service (OBS) user "edved" has also packed some Cinnamon ("cin") packages like this
package=cin . Maybe he would be also interested to work on this subproject/spin?

And on openSUSE Lizards: Cinnamon on openSUSE is also an article from the 29th of December 2011 by Jigish Gohil with a link to the OBS home repository of cyberorg.
There is also an article on the en.opensuse wiki : openSUSE:GNOME Cinnamon - openSUSE (edited until now on the 8th and 10th of January 2010 by cyberorg).

So, there are several forks? That's too many, there is no chance we can get
them all. Best thing would be to concentrate on the best option and perfect it.
