Default opensuse 12.1 - correct way of install Oracle Java + plugin?

    Hi.

I have installed the package from

    Download Java software for Linux

    (Linux x64 RPM )

In order to get the java plugin to work I had to create ~/.mozilla/plugins folder then symlink to /usr/java/latest/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so

Was there a more sensible way of doing things - I tried with update-alternatives - that worked for the general java binary.

    - Just to confirm java / plugin is working I was just wondering if there was a cleaner way of doing things?

Its a shame than openjdk just doesn't work with most web java applications...

    Hi,

I think that' s the right way to do it if the install doesn't create the symlink automatically!

I have created an automated installer rpm which pulls and installs java from oracle's website. http://forums.opensuse.org/english/g...aller-rpm.html
