    Default Installing updates and patches

    Hello,

    i am newbie and using opensuse 12.1 i don't know how to install all availible patches and updates can anybody tell what i have to do?

    Just run yast online update and follow your nose :-)

    correct, but let me add that Apper (the 'system tray' updater *if* you
    are using KDE--you should *always* declare your desktop environment) is
    very badly broken and should be disabled or uninstalled..

    always use YaST > Software (on left) > Online Update (on right) for
    updates and patches..

    it is an easy 3 clicks to success:
    -click Yast
    -give root password
    -click Online Update
    -see if there are updates
    -decide if you want them or not
    -click Accept
