    And to make it easy for a GUI user, YaST is of course the nice helper in system administration:
    YaST > System > Systemservices (runlevel). Look for sshd and switch it on/off there. YaST will not only perform the action, but also do everything that is needed to let it run/not run on next boot.

    I am sorry I didn't mean to post this thread four times . Actually the server was not responding and very slow, and I didn't know what was the cause of repeated posting.

    Thank you for your clarification makhyoun. We all suffer from technical problems from time to time
