Hey I'm experimenting on trying to use my laptop as a personal server. I downloaded apache2 mysql community server php5 and created a static ip address for the comp. Now what do I? I am a beginner so what do I do next? Thanks for the help.

What do you want to do with it? "Server" is a fairly generic term - if
you want to, for example, run a Minecraft server, then LAMP isn't going
to get you what you want.

If you want to serve static web pages, then it's overkill.

If you have a specific PHP app you want to run, then LAMP will probably
    be what you want.

But in some ways, the question you've asked isn't much different from "I
bought a high performance car. What are my next steps?"

IOW, "next steps" for what or to what end?
