Thread: Is there a simpler alternative to GIMP?

Default Is there a simpler alternative to GIMP?

    Hi,

I am using openSUSE 11.4 (KDE). For image editing, is there any simpler alternative to GIMP? GIMP is more complex, so I am looking for something easy.

    Thanks.

What kinds of editing are you looking to do? It might help people make
suggestions if you identified specific tasks you want to do so they can
be sure the software they recommend meets your needs.

    Hi
Have a look at pinta, it's a cut down version of GIMP.

Basically in image editing, the most common options should be there -- like to resize the image, adding note(s)/text to it or below it, changing its format (for example, from .png to jpg or other or vice-versa), saving it in .pdf format and related things...Thanks.

Gwenview has already a few very basic image editing features built-in. And then there is the digiKam/showFoto which allows image editing too.

If you have a KDE desktop you probably already have these, or at least you can easily install them from whatever repositories you are using.

Isn't that for vector images only? AFAIK it doesn't edit bitmaps.

Really there a lot of alternatives, I installed Pinta, seems easy, at least than GIMP. "Inkscape", I try that.
