Default Drag and drop files to thunderbird in kde

    Dear all,
(I am using the latest opensuse), I have a question regarding the capabilities of kde environment...
Let's say that I have a pdf file open in okular. Is it possible somehow to drag and drop then open pdf file (in okular) in a thunderbird new email message and thunderbird understand that this is an attachment?

If something like that is supported this will save a lot of time when working in office.

I would like to thank you in advance for your help

    BR

Easy way to find out, try it yourself from Dolphin. then Okular.

Hint: drop it in the attachment panel.

    It did not work.
PErhaps this might be because thunderbird is a gnome application and okular a kde one

In Okular select File >> Open
A browse window opens showing the current document and any others in the same directory.
Drag the document you want to new application, i.e. Thunderbird's new message window.
Is that what does not work?

Works fine for me. As eng-int said, File > Open. Select PDF document icon from browser window and drag icon to Attach button in TB, or the Attachment list, after the first PDF has been attached.

*or* open Dolpin > navigate to the PDF to attack > click and drag that
PDF into the outgoing email address area of an email being
created/edited > release the PDF and it will 'fall' into an
"Attachments:" area just to the right of the intended receivers email
    address..

*or* with a email being authored/edited go File > Attach > Files,
navigate to the PDF to attach, highlight it and click open

*or* with a email being authored/edited go File > Attach > Files,
navigate to the PDF to attach and double click it

and Thunderbird is no more a "Gnome application" than it is a "KDE
    application" or a "Windows application"

I assume that I did not explain it clear. I have a pdf file opened in okular and I was thinking to drag and drop the window with the opened file in thunderbird. There Thunderbird should understand that I want to attach the file that is open inside the application and attach it automatically.

If you mean dragging the Okular window to Thunderbird, surely that would imply that you wanted to attach the Okular program, which should fail as being probably a user erroe.

So if this is not supported this might be a new idea for implementing. I think this can be done from Mac systems. Drag and droping word in to the mail client will attach the opened file to a new email.
Is there a list for wishes for next releases for opensuse and kde?

Well, I think that's not sufficiently general. To make it consistent, you should be able to drag OO into Thunderbird and then it will attach the document you are working on. Similarly with GIMP, gwenview, and who knows, maybe you should be able to drag a browser window where you are watching Youtube and it will add the URL to the mail.

But why not go further? I should be able to drag a snapshot taken with ksnapshot into this openSUSE forum reply window and it will automatically upload it to an image hosting site and add a link to my text. Maybe even shorten the URL automatically.

But seriously, I don't know where you would make a request like this. Maybe the KDE dev forums. Good luck.
