    Default opensuse 12.1 Bluetooth Bugs

Well I don't know if this is the correct place to report this but l have traced 2 bugs in the bluetooth system of KDE 4.7.2 and 4.7.4...

    1. The files inside the folders of a bluetooth device, cellphone let's say, are not visible with dolphin only the folders are!

    2. This is quite annoying one, The dialog window which appears after you select to send a file via bluetooth from the pop-up menu of the bluedevil tray icon is almost useless because most of the dialog window area is filled with a huge CANCEL button and the other window components may be non reachable at all cause they are below the huge cancel button even if you maximize the dialog window!!

    Any ideas??

Should this be reported to KDE or bluedevil devs??

are they visible in konqueror? nautilus? mc or similar? from the command
    line with (say) ls?

or, are they visible in "file manager-superuser mode"?

the folders that can be seen, do their properties show the advanced
access permissions like seen in mine: http://paste.opensuse.org/29299677

one bluetooth device, or all tested?

In general it is wise to first discuss it here. When you and the others joining the thread decide that it is realy a bug, then filing it as such (in the proper place, that may be openSUSE or KDE) is a good thing. You would then also have others to help you doing that and to vote for the bug once it is filed.

all of my questions were framed to try to reveal if it is a bug, and if
so where: kde, openSUSE or Linux..

    or, maybe system setup/administration/operation..

Well the situation takes place at my Samsung B2100 mobile phone!
    - I don't have nautilus installed
    - Konqueror has the same behaviour as Dolphin,
    - Dolphin super-user stops at loading at 95% and therefore it doesn't show anything not even folders,
    - I cannot change licences at the phone folders and I get a message that obexftp protocol does not support changing licences

I checked the whole system with my other phone a Nokia 2730 Classic and everything works fine!
Except one thing, I cannot pair the phones both of them from the PC. Pairing can happen only when the phone does the invitation first!

The second bug I mention at the first post is there whatever phone is connected so I believe it's very easy to reproduce it to anyone who uses bluetooth KDE system... Well I forgot to mention that I use Bespin as style!! I checked now with Oxygen and the problem disappears! So I assume it is a Bespin specific issue... But I don't like Oxygen, it cannot be trasparent as Bespin can!

I found the solution for the 2nd bug that happens with Bespin style guys!

Go to System Settings -> Application Appearence -> Style -> Select Bespin and press the config button -> Choose Input System Tab on the left -> Make sure the box 'Behave rather maccish' is NOT selected!

All will be fine then with the dialog windows!!

P.S: Of course you should have Bespin installed and use it...

so, back to your original question: "Should this be reported to KDE or
    bluedevil devs??"

if Linux/KDE/bluedevil works ok with the Nokia then there must be
something "wrong" with the way your Samsung presents its internal file
    system for viewing... right?

hmmmm, maybe this "obexftp protocol" is not used on the Nokia?? and,
maybe it is unique to Samsung (aka: proprietary), or maybe a new
standard which bluedevil has not implemented..

so (can you tell i'm guessing??) let me suggest your find the bluedevil
folks (they have a mail list), explain your problem and see if they
think it is one they can fix, or not..

however, i'd still like to know if it is a "permissions problem" and it
might be one caused by the way Samsung is presenting itself to your
system....so, try to launch dolphin with root powers by:
-hold down Alt and press F2
-in the popup near the top of the screen type and enter "kdesu dolphin"
-try seeing/accessing the files inside the folders of the Samsung

and, back to "Dolphin super-user stops at loading at 95%" that is a
strange problem you should fix, or at least learn what is causing
it...if you post that question to a new thread i'll try to help you with
    it..

Well from the latest data collection that came out of our research I trace 2 let's say buggish situations.

-> Something is wrong with the way Samsung B2100 lets the bluetooth system browse its files!
The root-powered dolphin cannot even enter the phone's folders as I said above it stucks at 95% of loading (I tried it again as you said and the same stuff happened), only the user Dolphin shows Bluetooth system at the left column and reads Samsung's folders but it stays there... Perhaps that is connected with the 95% of loading the root Dolphin does. I believe it is the same cause of trouble...
Is there anyone out there with a Samsung mobile to check out the situation?? I checked the Bluedevil settings and I set to not only view files inside the devices but to modify them too but no luck. I also disabled all the safety stuff but again the same situation. All these only with the Samsung B2100!

-> And the pairing stuff which can only take place when the phone invites the computer and not the opposite on both Nokia and Samsung.

OH!, i misunderstood...i thought you were saying that when you tried to
start file manager superuser mode it hung at 95% of starting up, and the
file manager never showed up....which is why i gave the how-to launch it
a different way...now i understand that it was the process of accessing
the phone files where it stalled....

    hmmmmm....

Happy new year from me guys full of fun, health and jobs! (unemployment is our biggest problem here in Greece...)

Anyway, tell me now what should we do about the situation? Should I report the problem directly to the bluedevil devs? Or is there a mechanism of reporting bugs from a team of specialized people from our distro?

Could this be a compatibility issue of the Samsung phone with the bluetooth stick I use at my desktop machine? Any ideas?
