Default Replace for service start in 12.1?

Is there a replacement command for "service start" in opensuse 12.1 ?

I don't like it because it's not sending me the warning/erros back .. and this it's a big disadvantage for me.

service start/stop was never an official standard, it's a RedHat-ism. The official way is what Ecky posted. However the lack of errors or warnings may be due to the switch to systemd, in which case the messages are probably in the logs. Or you could try to swim against the current for a while and go back to SysVinit in 12.1.

You seem to have a lot of problems. How did you install it?

If the lack of messages is due to the switch to systemd, he won't get any joy moving to Fedora because they've adopted systemd too.
