Default Multiple Email Accounts ??? Evolution

I have been trying to set up Evolution to handle multiple email accounts. This requires setting up folders for each account and using message rules to direct incoming and outgoing email to the proper folder. This is a cumbersome process. Even worse, if there are multiple recipients on the incoming email, it may not get sorted at all if mine is not the first on the list.

Is there a better PIM/email application for Gnome that will do a better job of handling multiple email accounts?

To be honest, I don't quite understand what you mean. I'm having 6 accounts in Evolution, POP as well as IMAP, and I'm pretty happy with the way it is. No comparison IMHO to Opera, but that's another story.

The problem is that all email goes into one inbox and all replies go into one sent box.

I am active in several organizations, serve on two non-profit boards of directors, am webmaster at two different websites (soon to be 3). I also have separate personal email accounts for business matters, personal correspondence and message board/forum communication.

For all this correspondence to get dumped in one box gets confusing. I can't tell what I have tended to and what I haven't. A Personal Information Manager is supposed to simplify that.

Check whether your emailaccounts support IMAP. and configure the accounts to use IMAP. That should keep all mail in the account's folders.

My mail comes in in the folders belonging to the accounts, not in the local folders. Except for "Sent' mail, but that's a thing I configured manually. AFAIK you should be able to adjust Evolutions settings to achieve what you want.

BTW: Take a look at Opera's mail. On my main machine I have over 30.000 mailmessages in 8 accounts, 400 contacts, and all is well and under control. But, like said, different. The issues you're describing won't be there in Opera.

Before I spend a lot of time checking out Opera mail, what is "different" about it?

I just read your user page. Thank you for your dedication to open source and openSUSE.
