    Default Help understanding a file

I have a opensuse 11.3 server, no desktop, just command prompt. When i do a list or dir, i have a file named eth0.pcap, which i would assume that its the network adapter. I am just wondering why the file size is so big. I have posted the what i see on my screen.

    Code:
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 31937068 Aug 30 14:18 eth0.pcap
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hi,

I think you have used the tcpdump command to inspect network traffic, or at least someone has

    Code:
    tcpdump -w eth0.pcap -i eth0

    Kind Regards Thermal...

You can use the command "file eth0.pcap" to learn what it is.
