Default opensuse 12.1 kde version -mouse pointer disappears

New to opensuse (came from lmde) Seems sometimes when the display is off for awhile, when i move the mouse to turn back on, the mouse pointer (arrow) is not visable. I need to reboot the system to get it back. This is not good....Any ideas?

    Thanks!!!!

    -=WELCOME=- new poster!!

lots of things are different here...may take some patience to hang in
    until it gets 'easy' again..

your symptoms sound like a video problem....i guess if you turn off
desktop effects the problem will go away...try it: Personal Settings -
Desktop Settings > Desktop Effects > General, uncheck "Enable desktop
effects" then click "Apply" and give it a look see..

ok, so i know you really want all that cool desktop effects stuff...so,
maybe you can have all of that _and_ you mouse without rebooting...you
could try working your way through this video driver mine-field:

but, truth is: i know that was all swell for 11.4 but i'm not certain
how it gets on will 12.1, so you might weigh carefully which you had
    rather have:

    1. a fully functional, but no desktop effects, 12.1 with a mouse which
is still around after the display is off

    2. a busted system..

hmmmmm--alternatively you might try a different way to have the "display
off for a while"....that is, i do not know if you are (for example)
locking the desktop, _or_ letting the power saving function shut down
the monitor, _or_ having the screen saver blank the screen, _or_ you are
pushing the power switch on the monitor to turn the display off, or or
or or.......but, i'm just suggesting there are numerous ways to have a
    "display off for a while"...

the one which saves the most electricity/battery, etc is probably to
suspend/hibernate the who she-bang....i usually just turn off the
    monitor, with its power switch...

    ymmv
