    Default OpenSuse 12.1 : Windows disappear when reduced ?

    Hello

    When I click on the corner of a window it disappear from the screen without
    leaving an indication on the bottom line showing it is there waiting behind.
    I found no way to make it visible again but it is still running (ps aux).
    I probably miss something,what ?
    regards.

    If you press Alt+Tab, does the window re-appear?

    Yes it does !
    If 2 windows have been reduced I must press Alt+Tab twice.

    It is a progress, but it does not solve my problem.
    There is no indication that a program (window) is sleeping in the background
    and as I do not remember it I open a new instance of it, this gives funny
    results when repeated.

    Sounds like either you're missing an applet in the notification area, or
    something like that. Someone better versed in KDE than I can probably
    tell you how to re-enable it.

    When I right click on an empty portion of the task bar, there's a choice for "Task Manager Settings".

    Looking now at the Task Manager settings, I see that I have have it set to show:

    Only tasks from the current window;
    Only tasks from the current desktop;
    Only tasks from the current activity
    Only tasks that are minimized.

    I have the 2nd and 3rd of those checked. Hmm, checking the third is probably why everything disappears if I experiment with one of the alternative pre-defined activities in 12.1

    Your description seems to fit what I would expect if only the first of those options were checked. You might want to take a look at those settings.

    Thanks for your help.

    I managed to solve it late last night.
    When comparing with an other user on my PC it appears I had no task manager.
    I probably erased it by mistake when trying to organise my 'tableau de
    bord',the bottom line on the screen.

    The task manager can be added by : RightClic on bottom line>option panel>add
    graphic components.
    There is a long list of components to choose from.

    The change will be effective when restarting the desk.

    Regards
