Default How do I install QtOctave in Opensuse 12.1 64bit

    Heya,

I want to install QtOctave but I can't find it in the repos, I've downloaded the following file:
    Code:
    octave-3.4.3.tar.gz
But I'm not sure how to use it...I'm a bit of a n00b!

    Best regards,

What you downloaded is the source code for GNU Octave. qtoctave is a
frontend for octave and has absolutely nothing to do with the octave
project itself, it was written by someone outside the octave project.
You may google who wrote it and ask this person if there will at some
point in time a newer version, but I doubt it.
qtoctave is an abandoned project no longer maintained by anyone and will
NOT work with any octave 3.4 version in a reliable way.
If you want to install Octave add the science repository and install it
with yast, but this will only give you the cli.
I simply use kate as gui editor for octave and the embedded terminal in
    kate.

OK? So...how do I do that? I don't know how to find that science repository. The only kate-thing I can find is some kinda ogg codec...

    All repositories are located here:
The one you want is: Index of /repositories/science/openSUSE_12.1
Kate is a text editor. You can add it through Yast. After that you will find it in the apps menu under utilities -> editor.
