    Default Display and Moniter

Using the display and monitor under personal tools I am unable to set the screen size (size and orientation) to 1600x900 because it is not listed in the drop down menu. Is there a way do do this using a manual method. Thanks for any useful feed back.

Welcome to the forums motordrive. We need to know a little bit about your graphics chipset and driver in use before we can assist further. Open a terminal window and type this command
    /sbin/lspci -nnk
This will produce several lines of output. If you look carefully, you'll find an entry similar to this
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (primary) [8086:2a02] (rev 0c)
            Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Compaq 6710b [103c:30c0]
            Kernel driver in use: i915
What brand/model of monitor are you using (or laptop model)? If it's an external monitor, what type of connection does it have? (VGA, HDMI...)
Depending on your hardware, it may a question of using another driver, or a manual configuration may be necessary.
