Thread: System Monitor temperature scale?

  1. #1

    Default System Monitor temperature scale?

I added a new tab in System Monitor and set it for showing temperature of the CPU and Motherboard but the degrees are all in Celsius. How can I change that to Fahrenheit?
    Here's a screenshot (a picture is worth a thousand words, lol) http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...SysMonitor.jpg

if that is not enough you might want to include more info in your
    question...like:

    operating system and version?

    desktop environment and version?

did you install 'sensors' (or what?)

did you run 'sensors-detect' as root? (or what?)
and, is there an opportunity in there to select C or F?

if you type this at a command line
    Code:
    sensors -f
    do you get a
    readout in F?

apparently sensors is not installed. I got this message: [code}If 'sensors' is not a typo you can use command-not-found to lookup the package that contains it, like this:
    cnf sensors[/code]

    OS: SuSE 11.4
    Desktop Enviornment: KDE 4.6.00 (4.6.0) "release 6"

There is no opportunity in "System Monitor" to select C or F.

ok, so i really don't have a clue what is collecting and sending
temperature to your "System Monitor" application

hmmmm...i also run 11.4 and 4.6.0 and i didn't know it was possible to
get those temps without the 'sensors' app..

hmmmmmmmm2, i found the "System Monitor" in the main menu and it has the
tabs (like yours) for "Process Table" and "System Load" but does not
have the "Temp" tab.....i wonder if me adding 'sensors' to the system
killed that part of the monitor.... hmmmmmm

What I did was, go to File > New Tab > and then there will be that menu of stuff you can drag into the area (the right panel in my screenshot). Select what you want and like I said, just drag it over to the left pane area. Look in the Hardware Sensors area of that right panel area.

    wow cool! thanks for sharing..

still, i could not find a way to switch from C to F (though i did find i
could right click the graph, select "Properties" and change the min and
    max of the graph)..

mystery! maybe they (the kde devs) just have not gotten to that
yet...you might check bugzilla here and at kde.org, it is probably on
someones list to do, eventually....i say eventually because i _think_
all chip and board makers publish normal and max temps in C....so you
might just look up your chip/boards norm/too high C numbers and be
    happy... maybe..
