I ask mainly because it seems the packages for ghc and the haskell platform are pretty out-of-date, even in factory. Is there a reason it’s like this, or just laziness on the part of the maintainers?
I’ve been meaning to get around to learning more about using the build service for packaging, and this might be a good opportunity to learn if more help is needed.

You might do a search at http://software.opensuse.org/search and include
users’ home projects. I turned up one hit on ghc 7.2.1 (the latest build
listed at haskell.org) - you might have a look at that.
It may be that there’s no official maintainer for the mainline
distribution.
