Skype screen share

posted this over in the skype forums but absolutely no response.
Anybody here have any experience with this?

I have skype 2.2.0.35 on Opensuse 11.4 with KDE 4.6

I have all desktop effects disabled in KDE.

Skype works pretty well for me but I can't seem to get screen sharing to work.

Whenever I select share screen (whether full or region) everything appears to be working from my end and it appears as if my screen is being shared but the user at the other end (always using windows skype) is unable to view my share.

On their end my video link simply disappears and no share screen appears.

I can dual boot on this computer into windows and when I do this and load skype the share screen function works perfectly.

What would the problem be with screen share in linux?

Just an idea: I have no experience with this (although I have used skype in the past), but I wonder if this is a firewall issue at the Windows machine end? The usual port requirements are outlined here. But I wonder if the screen sharing would fall over first if there are problems here...

To work correctly, Skype requires unrestricted outgoing TCP access to:

All destination ports above 1024 (recommended)

or
Ports 80 and 443

If your firewall restricts access to both of these, you will need to update your firewall settings before you can use Skype.

When you install Skype, a port above 1024 is chosen at random as the port for incoming connections. You can configure Skype to use a different port for incoming connections if you wish, but if you do you must open the alternative port manually.

Sounds like a Skype problem.....Good luck getting Microsoft to fix that.

It would be nice to know if skype linux - linux screen sharing works ok. If it really is an internal skype issue, then as gogalthorp mentioned...good luck with M$ fixing that, although from what I've read, this should just work, and there are accounts of it working ok.

yeah - previous versions of skype linux screenshare worked for me.
Could be a problem in the newer version of skype (see a few ubuntu reports) or perhaps that I am now using Suse 64bit.
