Thread: Package repository help

  1. #1

    Default Package repository help

I get a message,Package Manager: a mirror is possibly broken

The repository repo-update seems to be outdated. You may want to try another mirror.

I'm a novice at open SUSE, is there a command I could type in the terminal to fix this problem

You can open up a terminal session and run the following command:

    Code:
    zypper repos
You can then use the ADVANCED message editor and post the results in a code (#) field (like I used above, highlight the text within a message and press the # code button) to preserve the formatting and to allow large amounts text within.

All of the repositories we use are gained from these Web pages:

    Package repositories - openSUSE

    Additional package repositories - openSUSE

    KDE repositories - openSUSE

    GNOME repositories - openSUSE

You must run YaST (enter root user password) / Software / Software Repositories and then delete any suspect entries. Be aware that old versions of openSUSE like 11.0 or 11.1 are no longer supported and it is suggested you be using 11.4 or 11.3 at the oldest right now.

You are probably using an outdated openSUSE version.
Paste the output of this command:

    Code:
    cat /etc/SuSE-release

    Hello afanofsuse,

    Welcome here,

You are welcome to ask questions and ask for help with yuor problems. But you should tell at least the minimum amount of information to us mere normal (not clairvoyant) people. Like: what version of openSUSE are you using. And, while we could guess when you get that message, you better tell us what you do when you get that message. The more guessing from our part, the more change we jump to the wrong conclusion about what you are doing.
