Have a try with “freemind”, a well working java application.
As a java application it does not really integrate into the desktop
environment and looks a little alien, but it does have some stong points:
1.) it really works well
2.) everything can be done by keyboard shortcuts, essential for mind mapping

The only thing that is really annoying (besides it being a java application)
is printing. Try exporting into a pdf first and print that.

You should definitely try Mindomo.com

Easy to use interface, they had a new release just a few weeks ago. Overall it looks really cool and you have a trial account with 3 mind maps.

I use View Your Mind (vym) you can get it in the repos :stuck_out_tongue:
