Default Vmware Workstation 7.1.4 install Vmware kernel module Updater

    I just installed opensuse yesturday on my laptop and am running, Linux linux-thm2.site 2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2011-02-21 10:34:10 +0100 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Ive tried both vmware 7.1.3 and 7.1.4, get same messge from both. from what ive read 7.1.3 should work with kernel version 2.6.37 but I want to run windows 7 so i need 7.1.4 installed,
after installing VMware-workstation-full-7.1.4-385536.x86_64.bundle; I type vmware to start it up in the terminal and a little grey box (vmware kernel module updater) comes up says kernel modules must be compiled and loaded into kernel, 2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop, kernel headers for version 2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop were not found, if installed in other then default path please specify path below.
i have the option to search for something and install it, any Idea what im missing?
and should I upgrade kernel to 2.6.38.2 desktop (which i dont know how to do)

    im just learning,
    any help, is greatly appreciated.
    thanks in advanced.

If anyone knows any good Linux books let me know thanks

(Sorry for the quoteback in caps - it's not posted that way, but the
gateway sometimes misidentifes a font type/class and sends it through in
    all caps)

There are a few threads about getting VMware 7.1.4 running - have a quick
search through the forums using 'VMware' as a keyword and see what hits
come back. That should give you some good answers and directions to go.

That's highly subjective - and depends on your knowledge level of Linux
and of computing in general. In a way, it's like asking "what book is a
good book on fixing cars", without telling us what kind of car you have
or if you've ever opened the hood in a car to see what's in the engine
compartment. You might have a look in the "looking for something other
than support" forum, as there are a couple of threads there along these
lines - or ask a question there and provide some detail about what your
level of experience currently is - then someone may be able to provide
you with a good reference to start with.

please use bold text very sparingly in your posts...(because it comes
through to some users/helpers as all caps)

do what you wish, but many folks find Virtual Box (aka VBox) the easiest
    to set up and use..

for example, one of the most prolific and proficient helpers in these
fora seemed to have settled on VBox just last week, see here
    http://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php?t=464636

i'm not saying it will work without you reading any instructions, but it
will work easier than VBox (in my experience, and many others..)

of course, since it is from SUN it could be yanked out from under us and
    day now.
