Unhappy Gedit 2.28.3 not working properly for its 'Search' machine.

Hi, Gedit-2.28.3 text editor is not working adequately on Osuse 11.2: after selecting 'Search'--> 'Find/Replace' it is not feasible to write properly in the corresponding box (greyed/unabled). May you suggest me a solution for this trouble? Thanks.

since openSUSE 11.2 has its end of life last May (cite:
    http://en.opensuse.org/Lifetime) you should upgrade..

however, http://tinyurl.com/4aflkpy says that Evergreen support for
openSUSE 11.2 is currently being ramped up....so, perhaps there is some
    help there..

or, you could use a different text editor, there are hundreds
available...KWrite for example, or Kate, or Emacs, or or or

[i guess i should say: i have no idea what is actually broken about your
Gedit....has it been that way all along (since initial install) or just
lately it stopped working...if lately, can you pin the change on any
event or change you made to the system?]
