stop lock screen

i do have a screensaver
i have require password after unchecked in sreensaver under display and monitor
i have lock screen on resume unchecked in power management global settings
i even unchecked suspend session in power profile options for all aggressive powerslave, performance, powerslave.
it keeps locking up afterreen saver ends

is there a control-alt-delete keystroke for when opensuse 11.4 freezes up or do i have to restart it?

what operating system and version are you using?

what desktop environment and version are you using?

have you ever installed any software from any repo with these words in
the title: evergreen, tumbleweed, playground, unstable, factory, or 47?

if you use YaST to add a new test user, then log out as yourself and
back in as the new test user does the problem go away?

control+alt+backspace+backspace will kill X-windows and throw you to a
log in screen…but, it could also cause some problems, so it is much
better to search the forum and learn how to use the sysrq key stokes to
safely and easily shutdown…

sometimes if you go into that area where you can setup screensaver,
screen lock, etc and etc and set it to something different…like set it
to require a password, change to blank screen (instead of flying
elephants) and pick a different thing in power savings and click
apply…go do stuff for a while, maybe forget about it…maybe boot it
tomorrow and then go back and set them all back to what should not
lock your screen…sometimes it will then pay attention!!

opensuse 11.4 kde 4.6.0.0 release 6 , linux 2.6.37.6-0.7-desktop x86_64,
i only have the 3 default repositories and packmans, ive only installed avidemux and kdenlive, nothing with the words youve suggested.

i dont know how to do a test user. ill be able to delet the new user added?
is it called the magic sysrq keystrokes, The magic Sysrq key basically has a key combination of **<ALT> + <SysRq or Prnt Scrn> + <Command key>

thanks

easy:
-open YaST

-give root password when asked (if it doesn’t ask for root password,
STOP and tell me)

-go Security and Users > User and Group Management >

  • (new window opens) click “Add” (at the bottom)

  • fill in the blanks with fake info (but do NOT forget what you put in
as “Username” and “Password” [use something like 4diablo and cy33NfX
    DO NOT FORGET THE PASSWORD]

  • do not check the box to “Receive System Mail”

-IF your machine usually logs itself all the way into KDE, then check
“Disable User Login”

  • click “Ok” at the bottom

  • log out (right click desktop, select “Leave”, in next popup select
    “Logout”

  • soon you will see a log in screen, select your New User, give password
and log in…do something (open firefox for example) then WALK away and
stay away as long as you usually have to be gone for your machine to run
the screen saver and lock the screen…

STAY away, don’t touch it…then, when you come back if the screensaver
is not running, WAIT some more…if the screen saver IS running, press
the space bar and see if the machine snaps back to life without you
having to sign in, or without you having to take drastic steps…

when you have seen it either does the SAME thing to the new user that it
did to you, OR not, come back to this thread and report what is going
on…(and, yes you can delete the test user when she is no longer needed)
