Thread: Chromium doesn't start after updating

Default Chromium doesn't start after updating

I've recently updated Chromium to version 15.0.854.0-2.1 and it won't start now.
When I start it from terminal I get the following error message:
    Code:
[9537:9537:1614240504:FATAL:zygote_host_linux.cc(129)] The SUID sandbox helper binary is missing: /usr/lib/chromium/chrome-sandbox Aborting now.
I tried reinstalling Chromium but I get the same message. I think it could be a problem of this version of Chromium. Can I get this to work somehow and if not, how can I downgrade Chromium to the previous version?

I'm using openSUSE 11.4 KDE. Any help would be appreciated.

Yep, but this one's different. Latest update complains about the sandbox program not being there, and it is not there. Since I needed Chrome badly last night, I decided to temporarily try a package from the user directories, this one works.

I have the same issue. After installing chromium-15.0.854.0-1.2.i586.rpm from openSUSE:Factory:Contrib/standard on openSUSE 12.1 Milestone 3 I get the following error:
[10467:10467:1220540861:FATAL:zygote_host_linux.cc(129)] The SUID sandbox helper binary is missing: /usr/lib/chromium/chrome-sandbox Aborting now.

This is the same problem as the one described (and solved) in this other thread: Chromium doesn't start after latest updates(15.0.854.0-2.1). But I didn't notice that this one was about the 32bit version. I guess I could upload the previous version too. Do we have a better option other than using web sites (with limited bandwith) or media share kind of sites? In other words, is there a possibility to attach the archive here? ... or another option I cannot think of.

Don't worry, guys, you'll get it one way or the other.

LOL, we're crossposting..... BTW it's not 32bit. I checked the packages they were still 846 yesterday, today in user ifda's repo they're 854 too .

Yesterday, yes. But not today. The 64bit version was updated one day before the 32bit version.
This thread is about the 32bit version:
    Code:
[9537:9537:1614240504:FATAL:zygote_host_linux.cc(129)] The SUID sandbox helper binary is missing: /usr/lib/chromium/chrome-sandbox Aborting now.
The other thread was about the 64bit version
    Code:
[10121:10121:2654747337:FATAL:zygote_host_linux.cc(129)] The SUID sandbox helper binary is missing: /usr/lib64/chromium/chrome-sandbox Aborting now.

Had missed that this is 32bit. But we can summarize now that it's in 32bit and 64bit, starting from the 854 version. Issue is the same on both archs.

    @ 32bit users,
How is the latest version working for you guys? Do you still need to downgrade to 846? ( = should I upload the 32bit older packages somewhere?)
