    Default Firefox 5?

Does anyone know when Firefox 5 will be available on our repo?

    Regards,

Apparently, firefox 5 is the security update for firefox 4. See this thread:
    Firefox 5.0 !

If that is correct, then it is likely that we will soon see a security patch that updates us to firefox 5. However, I cannot guess when that will happen.

    Default AW: Firefox 5?

If you want to have FF5 right now, you can simply add the mozilla repository and in yast switch Firefox to the version from this repo (here the repo for 11.4, I also run FF5 on 11.3)

What do you mean with "our repo"?
Any version of openSUSE (you do not even tell which one you have, so how can we guess which repo you man?) consists of the OSS, non-OSS and Update repos. During the lifetime of the version nothing will change with the first two, but Update will get Security and Recommended updates.

Thus when there are security issues with FF, it could be that there will be a patched one in Update, not necessary a version 5 but a retrofit to the "official" openSUSE version is also possible.

There are of course a lot of other repos available that cooperate with a current openSUSE level (including Packman that is used by most of us), but none of them is "official" openSUSE.

Thus please explain what you mean with "our repo".

Blimey, there's some grumpies here today. Must have got out of bed the wrong side. The only stupid questions are the ones never asked.

It's the guy's first post. Let's give him a break eh?

Anyway, this might help. It certainly helped me. I've been using Linux for a while, but I still need help, and this did the trick.

Well, I must admit that I missed the 1 in his number of posts. When I do see it, I normaly say welcome.
Thus: welcome to these forums jtaylor5309.

That said, I only want to find out what the OP's question is. As soon as I see unprecise questions I try to find out what the OP means. IMHO that is better then all the answers based on guessing what one thinks that the OP may have/see/want, etc. I have seen a lot of threads going nowhere on assumptions after bad formulation. Not helping the OP, not being of any satisfaction to those who thought they had answers.

I know that many people answer when they think they know what the question is. I accept that, but my way is a bit different.
And you may hav seen that I not bluntly said to the OP you are talking nuts (@jtaylor5309: that is a great exaggeration by me, sorry, you were only inprecise), but tried to explain how it works in openSUSE with respect to newer versions of software that are released after the release of an openSUSE version. This time a guess from my side that he lacks such sort of information. A guess, maybe no better then the other one's guesses.
