Default A couple of questions regarding AppArmor, Compiz and Services.

After a few days of using openSuse 11.4 on my netbook, im sold. Im staying Now im in the "tweaking" phase, and i have a couple of questions...
BTW, i use Gnome as my desktop, not KDE.

1- I have disabled AppArmor in yast (i dont need the extra security). And since i dont like to have things i dont use, i was thinking about uninstalling it completely. but im affraid doing so will break something.
¿Can i safely uninstall AppArmor without "breaking" something?

2.- Since im running suse on a Dell Mini10v netbook (with limited hardware resources), i want to completey disable compiz, and use metacity. I went to control center->desktop effects and un-checked the "Enable desktop effects box".
¿Is this all it takes to completely disable compiz, or do i need to do something else?

3.- I like to have full control of what services are automatically started. I went to yast but i cant find an application that allows me to control services, there is the network services app, but it only see network related stuff, i want to be able to control all services, like cups, cron, etc.
¿Is there an aditional GUI application i can install that will allow me to control services? something like system-config-services (software manager doesnt seem to find it).

Thanks in advance for your help

Since Gnome2 is discontinued I would recommend you switching to XFCE.

It is faster and lighter on resources than GNOME.

And it includes fast compsiting, yet quite eye-candy window manager - far better than metacity (at least for me).

With compositing manager, applications don't have to repaint windows while you are moving them - and it works MUCH faster (although not as fast as Compiz which uses GPU and almost 0% CPU to do all the job on fast machine).

Other than that you can use all the GNOME apps easily with it - it integrates with gnome apps just perfectly.

After few weeks toying with it I think it is also actually better (and better designed) than GNOME. I've uninstalled GNOME completely on one of my boxes and im thinking what to do with the second

I miss Compiz, but it causes problems with fglrx - invistible windows, permanently bend windows, etc (quite funny, but not if you have work to do). XFCE is rock stable.
