Thread: How many use Dragon Player?

  1. #1

Question How many use Dragon Player?

KDE ships with the Dragon player for video playback. Trying it many times I still find it hard to use with clunky interface and playback problems, and I go back to MPlayer.

How many in openSuse community use Dragon player?

No problem to use banshee on kde. I did that for some time and it is not so
bad for video, but I prefer smplayer for video.

But back on topic, I tried dragon player several times and did not get the
point what it is really good for, it is like a crippled kaffeine, so I do
    not use it.

One might "get the point" when taking a look at Dragonplayers history: its predecessor in KDE3 was Codeine, an extremely minimal player which offered only the most basic functions but therefore had the advantage of being uncluttered, simple and fast. Dragonplayer still has the same goal. I prefer SMplayer as well, but I still think Dragonplayer is a nice app.

    Yes.
Bizarre as it may seem, I have had it play DVD's that other players (even VLC) were Spitting Dummy at.
