OpenSuSE 11.4 software update broke networking

So i just installed 11.4 x64 on my laptop everything was working fine, i got some applications running was looking into trying to get some stuff running with wine. I applied a software update which said it fixed many issue so on so forth. I cannot remember the name of this update, but it has broken my networking.

KNetwork manager says it is connected to the wireless but i cannot browse the web or even ping anything other than the loopback address. When i do i ifconfig i dont see any ipaddress at all on wired or wireless connections. It is almost like ipv4 got turned off or something. Has anyone else had this issue, or possibly know a solution i am stumped

Might look at the following thread as something there might be useful.

Susie 11.4 network manager doesnt start at bootup

Thank You,

as far as i can see your question has nothing to do with 64 bit–suggest
you PM and ask a moderator to move it to the networking forum.

Just giving you a hard time DenverD. My opinion on the subject (and that is all it is) is to allow the Moderators to do their jobs. I don’t think they need our assistance on this really. However, for an really bad offense, I select the Report Post button on the bottom left of each post which seems to cause immediate results, if that is what you are after. Otherwise, I just try to help as best I can to any post. But of course, you have been operating in this forum longer than I have and know the drill.

Thank You,

do what you wish…i see you try to answer no matter where the question
is placed…i try not to answer questions in the wrong forum…for lots
of reasons…

and well…as far as i am concerned we could get rid of all the sub
forums, and have just one big one…and, i mean that! as proof, i’m
subscribed to all (except the, screen shot one) because from experience
i know that folks are likely to post something i might be able to help
with in every forum…even the areas that i know almost nothing about
(like programming) i see questions far enough off topic center than (as
a generalist) i might be able to help…

so, i do not care what goes where–except: when you get a network
problem which is not in anyway affected by the 32/64 question in this
forum, then the thread is very likely to, over time, pull in more and
more networking questions (as folks google/etc in)…and for those
who use the forums advanced search function to limit hits, and if
looking for a networking answer click to only search the networking
forum…well, you can see where that goes…
