    Default openSUSE 11.4 Kernel(default/desktop)

I am kindly inquiring openSUSE 11.4
I had found out the Kernel was installed in different when openSUSE 11.4 was installed on Desktop and Labtop respectively as follows.

    Desktop : 2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop
    Labtop : 2.6.37.1-1.2-default

We are developing products using HID, USBHID Driver[hid.ko / usbhid.ko].
HID, USBHID Driver[hid.ko / usbhid.ko] in module type is able to be amended while installing openSUSE11.4 on Labtop.
On the other hand, it is not possible for Desktop case.

So, I would like ask as follows.

    1. Is there any way to install kernel as 2.6.37.1-1.2-default when we install openSUSE11.4 on Desktop?
    2. Is there any way to amend the HID, USBHID 드라이버[hid.ko / usbhid.ko] while Kernel is being installed as 2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop?

It is, actually It's easy. When you install 11.4 on a desktop It install, by default two kernel versions 2.6.x-default and 2.6.x-desktop. The boot selector (GRUB) let you select at boot time if you want to boot your system with default or desktop kernel. Default option (if you don't choose another in 30seconds) is desktop, but you can change it. If you want to change the default option go to menu-application-system-configuration-YAST (the config tool), then select system-bootloader, then you choose the kernel default and select "set default".

    regards

    welcome!

this is a forum of users helping other users...

developer level questions are best asked where the real hackers hang
out, on mail lists or IRC....both available from here:

    http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Communication_channels

now, you might get an answer you can use here, but i'd guess it will
come quicker on IRC or the opensuse@opensuse.org mail list..

You should be able to select the package(s) you want at the end of the install process. I think it is expert mode. Yo should be able to change the kernel or even install both.

Thanks a lot for the reply.
I tried to install several times with openSUSE 11.4 downloaded software.opensuse.org: Download openSUSE 11.4
but I couldn't find the option you explained.
Would you let me know website address to download the openSUSE 11.4 as yours, and to try the installation?
