how to install Vuze using opensuse 11.4 gnome

I upgraded from 11.2 gnome to 11.4 gnome. I have not found a way to install Vuze. It does not show up in Software Management. I have read that Packman repository is needed, which I have. I have been searching for some instructions, but only find postings about Vuze that has already been installed. I would appreciate someone giving me a idea of how I can find out what I need to do.

Download the the one click install here

Thank you so much for the help|

I used the one click install and Vuze starts up and then shuts it’s self down again. I’m running 64 bit is this an issue?

Oh and it’s KDE I’m using.

Anyone??? I can’t seem to get Vuze working on 64 bit openSUSE KDE 4.6

Have you tried launching it from a terminal window to see what messages
you get?

No that’s a good idea. Going to do that now.

OK I get the following. I can’t make sense out of it. Can you? Thanks.

Looks like you’re using the openJDK - I would dump that and use the Sun/
Oracle JDK instead as that’s what Vuze is developed with.

I hesitated slightly in my previous reply because I do use Vuze but in Gnome.
I just download the archive from Vuze and extract the folder to my /home/username
manually crate a launcher in the menu pointing to the file azureus in the vuze folder. That’s it.
Yes, I use Sun Java only.

So I just tested it on my KDE laptop _64
Works just the same

Sorry double post. Please delete.

I can’t find a repo version. What repo needs to be enabled for it to work? Or would you advise a direct download from the Vuze site and installing it from there?

How would I install that? Sun Java, do I just go get it from the repos?

OK so I installed Sun Java. Still getting it shut down on me. In terminal this comes up:

At this rate I might be sticking with KTorrent. However I do really like Vuze. I have a feeling it’s a 64bit problem.

Any idea’s?

Download it from here:
Vuze Download

Extract the folder and place it in your user s /home
open the folder and then open a terminal there and start with:
./azureus

Make sure your Java is like this:

Cheers all is fine now. Your a friendly lot on here. More than I can say for the Fedora forums. Thanks again. Long may I use openSUSE.

You can create a launcher with the menu editor to make it easier.

Happy to help
