How do I get rid of the panel's tooltips?

Each time a cursor hovers above icons or application launcher in the panel, tooltips pop up immediately. It bothers. But I did not find where to switch them off. I found it for the task manager, but not the panel itself. Is it possible anyway?

Hopefully that will help get someone knowledgeable in KDE over to help
out.

The initial post is in the wrong area. @ Maksimko , if you had looked where you were posting, you would have seen words in LARGE LETTERS at the top of the page asking one NOT to post in this area.

In 30 minutes to an hour, I am going to move this thread to applications area. I need to wait that long so that this warning post gets out across the NNTP gateway. For web users I will leave a link to the new area for 1 week.

I ask that both web and NNTP users do NOT reply to this thread until AFTER it has been moved to applications. I will advise NNTP users when it has been moved. Look for a reply from me, to the original post, in the ‘applications’ NNTP area, after the thread has been moved.

Thankyou for your understanding.

2nd reply:

This thread has been moved from being inappropriately in the HOW-TO/FAQ area to our NETWORK area. Both NNTP and WEB based users are now invited to reply to Maksimko’s post. I have quoted the entire post so that NNTP users have a ‘hook’ in which to reply. I have also quoted hendersj’s and Maksimko’s further posts so that web based users can read those responses.

Thankyou for your patience during the thread move.

NOTE: i am running KDE 4.6.0 so there may be a few variations of wording
or location:

open Personal Settings - Configure Desktop, find the icon for
Application and System Notifications then click on “Launch Feedback”,
then uncheck the “Enable taskbar notifications”

Right click on task bar, select “Task Manager Settings” untick “Show Tooltips”.

Is this what you want?

  1. Personal Settings
  2. Workspace Behavior
  3. Workspace
  4. Untick “show informational tips”

Hopefully that’s what you want.

Nope. No effect.

Right click on task bar, select “Task Manager Settings” untick “Show Tooltips”.

This one is unticked. But it affects only taskbar, not the panel itself. I want to get rid of the bubbles appearing for the button which is analogue to “startup” in Windows.

  1. Personal Settings
  2. Workspace Behavior
  3. Workspace
  4. Untick “show informational tips”

I didn’t find the second item in Personal Settings.

Sorry, I could have been much clearer. Try this:

  1. Click “Personal Settings”
  2. Then in the “Workspace Appearance and Behavior” category click “Workspace Behavior”
  3. Then click “Workspace”
  4. Then untick “Show Informational Tips”

Hopefully that gets what you want.
