Default can we get back kernel 2.6.38 please ?

either in tumbleweed or kernel standard (stable) ?

2.6.39 has performance issues (at least for me), drains battery faster and doesn't support fglrx.

Changes so fast in those repos, next time maybe hang on to the RPM.

The only available downgrade I can see is to go back to the 11.4 kernel. You can flip between kernels found in 11.4, Tumbleweed and Factory.

If you go back to 2.6.37 and wait for Tumbleweed to rise to 2.6.40 (or whatever), things might work better for you.

Your other option is to compile your own kernel using a bash script called sakc. You can download kernel 2.6.38.7 here: http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kern...6.38.7.tar.bz2

Instructions for sakc are located here in message #62: S.A.K.C. - SUSE Automated Kernel Compiler - Version 2.00 - Page 7

sakc will maintain your existing kernel and add an option to run the selected and compiled one using from sakc in your Grub menu file. You can install ANY kernel version you find at The Linux Kernel Archives, though you would not normally go lower than the originally supported kernel for the selected openSUSE version.

I would be also happy to go back to early 2.6.38.

    2.6.39 has broken bluetooth support

Later 2.6.38 releases had broken gnome system monitor (instant freeze on process list and some "OOPS" messages displaying in console).

It seems that 2.6.39 is not ready yet for Tumbleweed, which aims to be as stable as possible.

Going back to 2.6.37 is bad idea since it doesn't have "performance wonder patch" and moreover it would upgrade again to 2.6.39 at next "zypper dup" so it makes little sense.

    Early 2.6.38 worked perfectly.

Catalyst 11.5 works with 2.6.39, there is script by Sebastian Siebert to make patched rpm somewhere on forums.
