Default Wireless connection problem for first-time OpenSuse user

Hey everyone I just installed OpenSuse for the first time, on a Dell Inspiron 15R, after giving up on Ubuntu 11.04 because it wouldn't install properly. Anyway I am having an issue with OpenSuse and connecting to my wi-fi hotspot at my house. I can use my phone to create a mobile hotspot and that at one point worked fine...But then that stopped working as well. When I try and connect to a network, it just says "activating" under the network name and stays that way for about 10 minutes before it just disconnects. Any suggestions?

OKay now I have another problem...I was following the suggestions I found in one thread on this forum, but at one point I had to use my root password...the problem is that when I entered it, it didn't work. And I KNOW I got it right. I then decided to try and change it...but every method I found that claimed to be able to let me change my root password said it needed my old password..which isn't working. I'd really appreciate some help with this.

If your root password isn't working you have problems.
Just check your characters are coming out as you would expect...

It may be easier just to re-install, that is if you Just installed it..

I tried it, got this with desktop, default and pae:

    Loading repository data...
    Reading installed packages...
'broadcom-wl' not found in package names. Trying capabilities.
    No provider of 'broadcom-wl' found.
'broadcom-wl-kmp-pae' not found in package names. Trying capabilities.
    No provider of 'broadcom-wl-kmp-pae' found.
    Resolving package dependencies...

    Nothing to do.

You seem to not have packman essentials repo. Here is the link to repo:
