(brasero_burn_check_session_consistency brasero-burn.c:1744). Unsupported type of task operation.

Hello, I was trying to make a copy of a CD using Brasero when I encountered the following error saved in brasero-session.log.

Checking session consistency (brasero_burn_check_session_consistency brasero-burn.c:1744)
Unsupported type of task operation
Session error : An internal error occurred (brasero_burn_record brasero-burn.c:2862)

I have checked and confirmed that the package icedax is installed. This was the sollution given in an Ubuntu forum: [ubuntu] brasero - “Unsupported type of task operation” - Ubuntu Forums](http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1558038)

My system is: openSUSE 11.4, Brasero 2.32.1, running Gnome not KDE.

Please help. Thank you.

try K3b, it and other K things can run in GNOME on openSUSE…

I am not completely sure what you try to do exactly. But since you mention
icedax I guess you try to rip something. You can check if your icedax has
the supported codecs by invoking the commands in a terminal, for example

cdda2mp3

if that gives you an error message about missing mp3 support just install
lame

su - -c "zypper in lame"

and check again with brasero.

Thanks DenverD but the last time I tried using K3B in Gnome in openSUSE 11.3, I lost two Dual Layer DVDs and they are very expensive in Kenya. Each DVD costs about $2. Back then K3B failed when it was like 75% into the burning process with an error about not enough permissions.

Thank you martin_helm, I tried out your suggestion and cdda2mp3 responded with the following message:

Encoder not found. Install one first! (eg. lame)

I then installed lame as suggested but the problem persists with the exact same error message in brasero-session.log.

I’m not sure if this helps, but when I look at Brasero, I notice that the first three options i.e. Audio, Data, & Video Project option all have colourful pictures depicting DVDs/CDs. As for the last two options, i.e. Disc Copy & Burn Image, they look dark almost greyed but selectable. I wish there was a way to attach a screenshot because I have one.

Thanks Again. I will be happy to try out more suggestions and ideas.

No idea what that is, but you can upload the screenshot for example at
http://www.imagebam.com/ and post a link here. Maybe someone has a good idea
about that. My comment was just based on icedax and I tried to imagine what
can be wrong with it. You probably miss something in addition.
But to be honest k3b is much better than brasero from my personal point of
view (install the packman version and k3b-codecs). It just is not part of
gnome, but that is no problem as DenverD already suggested.

ok, but i would also expect both brasero and kb3 to fail if you (for
example) tried to copy a file from a directory that you didn’t have
permission to read…

does that make sense to you?

Thanks for the quick reply martin_helm, I have uploaded two screenshots which I will explain briefly below:

This link is for the Brasero in my PC with openSUSE 11.4:
ImageBam - Fast, Free Image Hosting and Photo Sharing

This other link is of Brasero from my neighbour’s PC running Ubuntu:
ImageBam - Fast, Free Image Hosting and Photo Sharing

A close look at the two photos and you will be able to see the difference between them, i.e. “when I look at Brasero, I notice that the first three options i.e. Audio, Data, & Video Project option all have colourful pictures depicting DVDs/CDs. As for the last two options, i.e. Disc Copy & Burn Image, they look dark almost greyed but selectable.”.

I’m not sure what caused this, but I hope these screenshots help.

Thanks Again.

i just finished installing K3B and it works just fine. Thanks again.

Although I never got brasero to work, it would be nice to see the problem put under consideration.

Thanks You.

Beside that I do not have a proper idea, one last thing came to my mind.
Maybe you have somewhere a broken dependency. Can you check the following

su -
zypper verify

if it shows something is missing or incompatible in your system?

I ran “zypper verify” exactly as you wrote and this was the output:

Dependencies of all installed packages are satisfied.

I believe everything is in order according to zypper.

Thanks martin_helm.

Thanks DenverD for all your support. I will file the bug as you suggested.
