Hi I’m new to opensuse.i have a problem in my laptop battery.my laptop battery is not getting charge.in notification area.when i move the cursor to battery icon.it says 0%charged.if i turn off my ac adapter suddenly my laptop is off.same problem in windows.is there any way to fix the problem in Linux?any help will be appreciated.

My laptop battery is only 11 older.once,i removed and attached my battery to laptop after only this problem.my battery will stand for 3hours after a full charge.

Sorry my laptop and battery is only 11 months old.one week ago i removed my battery from laptop in order to clean.after my attached it to my laptop this problem started.please help me.thank you.

No no my laptop battery is not getting charged.on windows 7 battery status is plugged in not charging.my laptop will run only i plug the ac adapter.
This suggests your battery is no good.

For all I know, you gave it a bath.
But as I said. You need a new battery by the sound of it.
Turn off the laptop. Try removing the battery again. Clean any visible electrical contacts with a clean dry lint free cloth and replace it.

My wife’s Toshiba has a problem similar to what he describes except that it
will charge once the system “sees” the battery. Typical progression for
hers is that the laptop will charge to what is supposedly 100% then the
charge rate goes to zero. The idiot lights show a/c connected and battery
fully charged for a while, then the battery light goes out. If I pull the
a/c plug, the lappy dies instantly - as he describes. In this case, letting
the laptop sit for a few minutes then turning power on (battery only) it
will boot and run for the expected time. Once the charge level gets below
about 90% (or what the computer thinks is 90% - I believe that report about
as much as I do a used car salesman) plugging in the a/c will again show
charging. I don’t see the problem unless I leave the a/c connected for a
considerable time after full charge is reached.
This behavior follows the battery if I swap it into my laptop (a different
model Toshiba) and I’ve never seen it with any other battery than this
particular one which leads me to believe that it is a problem with the
charge controller inside the battery or possibly the connector contacts in
either the battery or the laptop(s). The batteries are obviously good but
there is a sensor/contact problem somewhere which causes it it to be
disconnected, likely inside the battery case.
Since the battery itself is perfectly usable, my workaround is to remove the
battery as soon as it reaches a reported 100% charge and only re-insert it
after the a/c power is removed and I want to operate from battery power
alone. Those suckers are too darned expensive for me to just replace a
useble unit!
