JEdit is great for all platforms and I recommend it for anybody wanting a
    real text editor.

Depending on how you use notepad+ it different recommendations may apply.
For example, for coding? Try Eclipse. Opening big files that
notepad/wordpad can't handle, try gedit/kate (built in usually, gedit for
Gnome-based setups and kate for KDE-based setups). Really intense
search/replace? JEdit is the best I've found on any platform.

    Good luck.

and your comment is answered in the same way I would have answered, try
    alien to convert the deb.
Otherwise I do not see the point to use an alpha version of an editor, there
are plenty of full featured editors available out of the box like kate,
    gedit, geany ...

I think you simply did not understand the original answer.

If you want to use notepadqq for which only a deb package is available you
can convert the deb package into a rpm package and this is simply done with
the command "alien", after that you can try to install the rpm to have
notpadqq on openSUSE (there is of course no guarantee that it will work, but
since this is only one command, why don't you simply try it?).

Let me make it easy for you:
    1. Download notepadqq 64bit from here
    https://launchpad.net/~notepadqq-tea...10-1_amd64.deb
    2. now open a terminal a change to the folder where you stored it
    (in my case Downloads)
    Code:
    cd ~/Downloads
    sudo alien -r notepadqq_0.13.10-1_amd64.deb
    sudo rpm -i notepadqq-0.13.10-2.x86_64.rpm
now it is installed and should work (at least I can start it).

I tried it before I posted and it works in this case for notepadqq, the
resulting rpm can be installed and the program works.
To answer the question about the 100%: alien will NOT always work for
everything else, the dependencies in deb and rpm packages are sometimes to
    different.
