You need to tell us a little more about your openSUSE installation:

  1. openSUSE Version and if 32 or 64 bit
  2. Desktop Used: KDE or GNOME
  3. How are you Installing GoogleEarth?

You also need to install the software package lsb in YaST / Software / Software Management in order to get GoogleEarth to work.

Thank You,

Thanks for answering I’m have SUSE 11.4, installed it with KDE and use Firefox. I tried to download from the internet “Download Google Earth for PC,Mac or Linux” My laptop accepted the whole download but wouldn’t install it’ I received the details given on my last post.

  1. did you set the execute permission on the file.
  2. you sure you got the Linux version? What is the file name? Should be GoogleEarthLinux.bin
  3. how did you run the file? From the command line?
  4. what user did you use when installing, root or yourself? Do not need to be root to install this program. If root how did you become root, su or su - ?

install instructions here: http://en.opensuse.org/Google_Earth

the locked temp file is probably left over from an install attempt which
you aborted…

delete it and all will be well–if you then install according to
directions…
