You need to tell us a little more about your openSUSE installation:
- openSUSE Version and if 32 or 64 bit
- Desktop Used: KDE or GNOME
- How are you Installing GoogleEarth?
You also need to install the software package lsb in YaST / Software / Software Management in order to get GoogleEarth to work.
Thank You,
Thanks for answering I’m have SUSE 11.4, installed it with KDE and use Firefox. I tried to download from the internet “Download Google Earth for PC,Mac or Linux” My laptop accepted the whole download but wouldn’t install it’ I received the details given on my last post.
- did you set the execute permission on the file.
- you sure you got the Linux version? What is the file name? Should be GoogleEarthLinux.bin
- how did you run the file? From the command line?
- what user did you use when installing, root or yourself? Do not need to be root to install this program. If root how did you become root, su or su - ?

install instructions here: http://en.opensuse.org/Google_Earth
the locked temp file is probably left over from an install attempt which
you aborted…
delete it and all will be well–if you then install according to
directions…
