    Default installing 32 bit programs

I am new to opensuse, but is it possible to install a 32 bit program on suse while running the 64 bit program. I have one I want to install but it gets a wrong architecture error.

    Thanks

The short answer is yes, 32 bit software does work in a 64 installation of openSUSE. Some applications may require other 32 bit libraries be loaded and ever so often, the 32 bit app may not work but in general, 32 bit software does work just fine if it is your only choice. I will say that practically everything though can be had in Linux in 64 bit format these days. I use 64 bit all of the time and never look back, but there are still a few 32 bit programs lurking around like Flash for instance.

Default Re: installing 32 bit programs

    Need more details.

Is this an openSUSE open source program? If so there is no point installing the 32-bit one as there will be a working 64-bit one. Also you will not be able to have both on the machine at once, at least not in the same executable path.

If a proprietary one like Skype or Acroread there are well known ways of installing those.

So you should name the program.
