    Hello fengzhureloaded,

First of all, there's no need to write the thread title in capitals.

Could you please give us a bit more infromation.
Which version of openSUSE do you use?
Do you use KDE or GNOME? Which version?

In KDE4 it's simple, right click on a folder view widget and select Create New->Link to application.
All you have to is fill in the name and the command field in the Application tab, all the others are optional.

    Good luck!
Where did I put my coffee cup?
    dir -R /home/* | grep "coffee cup"

[i assume you use a recent version of openSUSE, otherwise you wouldn't
likely be in this forum, and KDE -- as far as i remember, GNOME doesn't
have a desktop folder as such. would have been a good idea to include this
info, since desktop environments handle this differently...]

the easiest probably is to find the application you want to add in the
'application launcher,' in the left bottom corner of your screen. either
by scrolling thru' the available menus, or typing (the beginning of) it's
name into the search field. once it shows up, (left-) click on it with
your mouse and drag it into the desktop folder, or whichever folder you
want to put it in. release the mouse and choose "copy" from the available
    options.

the first time you use this new shortcut, the system will ask for your
permisson -- just making sure nothing unwanted has found it's way in.

Ok, got it, thanks. when dragging from the application launcher (KDE 4)-> what is the difference between "Link Here" and "Copy Here". Dragging Dolphin to the desktop folder -> "Link Here", is that right?

both should work -- in the beginning. if you "link" to the original
shortcut, the new one will stop working if, for one reason or another, the
shortcut it's linked to moves or disappears. if you "copy," the new
shortcut will remain working, independent of the original one.
