Thread: CD/DVD not being detected / auto-mounted

    Default CD/DVD not being detected / auto-mounted

    Hi,

Following an update to Tumbleweed, the CDs and DVD inserted are not automatically detected by the Device Notifier - they are however detected only if k3b is running.

There is no issue mounting cd/dvds manually and this issue does not seem to effect portable hard drives et al.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    11.4 + Tumbleweed, KDE 4.6

Do they show in Places in Dolphin?

You know Tumbleweed is not really something to play with unless you are prepared for things like this?

What about USB devices? Or is this isolated to cd/dvd?

Yes, this is isolated to cd/dvs only. Everything else is fine.

This isn't a be all and end all issue, it's an annoyance at this point. I go with the philosophy you don't play you don't learn.

Very weird, I don't see anything in the Tumbleweed repo that should
    cause this type of change.

If you disable the tumbleweed repo, update all the packages back to
    pre-tumbleweed, does automounting work properly?

If so, then can you add back a package at a time? First start with the
kernel, and see if that is the issue.

    thanks,

Oh, and you don't have any other repos enabled other than Tumbleweed, and the
main 11.4 ones, right? No packman, kde, or anything else, right? If no,
disable all of them first and do a 'zypper dup' to verify that the issue really
is with Tumbleweed and not somewhere else.

Ok, I've just downgraded and everything works fine now.

Why update the kernel, it's not necessary and if it breaking something, leave it.

And, you seem to have a number of unnecessary packages if you ask me
