Default GNOME spawns windows completely invisible

Hi all, I've been running openSUSE 11.4 for a while now and this issue is starting to get more and more annoying, as well as more frequent. Sometimes when I open an application, GNOME doesn't spawn the window but it will still capture mouse events and completely block the top left of my screen. It isn't until I log out and log back in that everything is back to normal.

It's like it starts up the app but just doesn't render the window. It started to do this with the terminal but now it's doing it with other apps like Totem.

I searched around and couldn't find anything on it. Any help would be appreciated!

    I am running GNOME 2.32.1

    Hi
Are desktop effects enabled? If they are, what happens if you disable?

    Hi
If it doesn't occur, then it's probably an additional plug-in that needs activation via compiz config settings manager.

I've noticed that such windows occur only when Compiz is enabled. But it doesn't matter which plugins are enabled.
Also, MonoDevelop and Wine sometimes doesn't work properly when compiz is enabled.
I think it's driver problem. I have HD5670 and tested all Catalyst drivers from 11.2 up to 11.6 (and many kernels), tried to update compiz, x11 and mesa - but no fix yet.

These invisible windows will re appear as soon as you disable (or restart) compiz.
If you still want to use compiz, make sure to place shortcut to "deskkop effects" somewhere on botton right corner of the screen to disable compiz when needed.
In worst case scenario you will have to restart gnome (fastest way - press ctrl+alt+backspace twice, all programs will be closed).

Or just install fusion-icon from this repo Index of /repositories/X11:/Compiz/openSUSE_11.4

btw. i've installed compiz from this repo, but ... my gnome clock disappeared
Anyway I think compiz is going to be retired, since it doesn't work with Gnome3 :/
