Thread: Yast randomly appears invisible

  1. #1

    Default Yast randomly appears invisible

    Opensuse 11.4 gnome/fglrx/compiz

Something strange happens when I launch yast2, the controlpanel appears invisible. Meaning that if I ramdomly click around the desktop, the relevant yast modules will start. But I cannot see the controlpanel at all, alt-tab does nothing to remove it, it just stays on top of everything.

    Any ideas, thanks?

and do it quickly, what you have now is kinda like 'Russian Roulette'
and eventually you will find a live round.

the problem is almost assuredly due to graphics out of whack....so, if
you wish you might want to try a better graphics driver for your
system...here is a good place to start:

In my case, impossible, it is Intel. I have given up on Compiz. And
    reporting on it is useless.

bad buying luck...but, maybe the OP has a graphics set which can be
    helped with the right driver..

No, I bought Intel on purpose for the laptop. I do not need fast graphics,
I prefer saving battery. I did not know at the time of the bugs they have
suffered for a year or two, or thought they were to be going solved soon.

That compiz doesn't work doesn't bother me, except as a symptom. I did
report it, as a matter of fact.

Thank you for your replies. I was hoping to have a kickass setup with eye candy, but it looks like not this time.
