If after update, your fglrx/graphics/desktop enviroment does not start...
This is only ment for people using ATI fglrx driver.
So, I ran update, and on nexto boot, KDE wouldnt load, talking about x.org.conf error.
Yap, seems that kernel or X was updated (I didn't even took effort to look what I was updating).
Do not dispare. Since your putter will be started in text mode anyways, login as root and type:
./usr/bin/fglrx-kernel-build.sh && reboot
voila...
