    Default Question on Downloads

I downloaded OpenSuse 11.4, burned an ISO to dvd and loaded onto my system, now the big question:

I have a co-worker that wants to load in OpenSuse 11.4, can she use my copy to load an image on her laptop? and I noticed on my copy, after reloading Thunderbird RPM on my machine again, that all my settings, folders, mail, trash, etc. came back on my reloaded Thunderbird without my having to create another profile. This is ODD to me because I thought if you reloaded a program back from the original ISO, that you would have to create another new profile.

Does this mean, if I give my co-worker my copy, she will have all my settings on any program she opens with my copy of the ISO ?

    Troubling Thought??????

Hello there cherock1254. All of your personnel settings are maintained in your /home area. When you install openSUSE, it is suggested you always maintain a separate /home area. Anytime you just do an upgrade to a newer version of openSUSE, your /home is preserved. If you do a new install of openSUSE, did maintain a separate /home area and did not format the /home area, your settings will also be persevered. One thing is for sure, a new download of openSUSE to an ISO will not contain any of your personal data and you can let anyone else install openSUSE from that copy without fear of sharing your personnel data with them.
