Default How to configure TATA Photon USB internet in OpenSuSe 11.4?

    Hello,

I am using TATA Photon usb internet stick. It's a Huawei USB modem. OpenSuSe detects and shows it as mobile broadband. But can not connect to internet.

Any1 has configured similar device before? It shows me in "network manager" but no option to active/connect it.

I Googled and referred to some posts but didn't help. In Windows I got auto dialer for Photon. And customer care says no support for Linux. Funny people.

    Regards,
    Amey.

you'll have to configure the connection in yast->modem. it's long ago that
i've used an USB modem in india, but i remember having to ask around for
the no. to dial, username/password to use (if any), and what not.

Issue is resolved. I configured the modem from Yat2 > Modem > Broadband modem >> It asked me to install snmpd package. After that configured dial number, username & password. Rebooted my laptop. After giving reboot I was able to click on Mobile broadband icon. Got connected quickly.

I have installed OpenSUSE 12.3 but have not updated it yet. When I put the Tata photon dongle it is not recognizing the software. I am able to use pen-drives and other USBs through such ports. Pl. let me know if it only work with OpenSUSE 11.3. Have you downloaded the 4.7 GB OpenSUSE or CD iso-780 MB. Pl. reply.
