KDE 4.6.1 for Opensuse 11.4?

Hi,

now that Opensuse 11.4 is out since some days, I wonder when the update from KDE 4.6.0 to 4.6.1 shows up.

I always look for the update and I do all the updates, but there is nothing to see, what looks like KDE 4.6.1. I tried all ways to update: via the automatic update tool, via yast-online update and also via zypper in the terminal.

Do I have something wrong in my system, or is it just not out yet and waiting will bring the answer?

the following repos are activated on my system (all with priority 99):

  • updates for opensuse 11.4
  • openSuse Buildservice: KDE Extra
  • openSuse Buildservice: KDE updated Apps
  • Main repository (Contrib)
  • Packman
  • libdvdcss
  • opensuse 11.4 - Non-OSS
  • opensuse 11.4 - OSS
  • opensuse 11.4 - source

is there something missing, so that I do not get the updated KDE?

would be cool if someone had the answer…

thanks in advance!

Steffen

I think the OSS repository will stay with KDE 4.6.0.

For 4.6.1 and up from “a relative predictable and safe repository” see here
KDE repositories - openSUSE

updated to:
Index of /repositories/KDE:/Release:/46/openSUSE_11.4

and now I have 4.6.1, and its working fine…

OpenSUSE should really consider to update kde because 4.6.0 because it is really buggy.

Some Problems I have:

  • Battery percentage does not display correctly
  • Sometimes systray icons do not show up
  • System does not shut down when battery is low
  • changing Monitor brightness does not work after standby
  • I cannot set all brighntess levels
    …]

Most of them have been fixed in 4.6.1 or 4.6.2 and I think every user should get the update.

I will test the release repo next week but it’s always better for most user to use stable repos only.

If you get trouble loging in to KDE 4.6.1 after the update from 4.6.0, it’s simple:

openSUSE starter: EXPERIMENTAL AREA - for experts only

Don’t worry about the “experts area” - I consider “experts” people who update KDE at all ;).

Best regards.
