Mouse click problem

I read a similar post in the forum, but my problem is different.
Sometimes, without particular reason, the left and right clicks of the mouse don't work, but I can move it.
The keyboard instead works always, so I can use the system with it.
I observed that sometimes the mouse stops to work when I open a window, and then if I close it trought the keyboard, clicks of the mouse works again.

I would continue to use openSuse, like I do since several years, but if I don't solve this problem in this month, I think to install the next release of Ubuntu.
I don't want to leave openSuse, KDE and its netbook plasma (I revalued this workspace recently).

try turning off desktop effects--any change?

if using nVidia or ATI graphics, are you using their proprietary driver?

is your mouse wireless? what happens if you move your mobile phone
further away? what happens if you attach a wired mouse?

I tried to turning off desktop effects, but nothing, it doesn't work.

I installed nvidia driver by Yast. Naturally, before I added the nvidia repo.

I have this problem both with touchpad and with wired mouse.

what version of KDE? and hmmmm...what you have there is very
unusual...and, i wonder what unusual software you may have installed
which is causing this problem...

how about Flash....maybe it only happens with a (say) youtube video in
full screen....or not full screen?

and, open a terminal, start top and place it where you can see
it....then go about doing what ever you do without covering up top and
then when the mouse clicking stops working look at top and see what
has got the attention....and, if that application changes when the
clicks begin working again...

window? skype? opera? or ANY of them...all of them..

really strange. what version of openSUSE are you running? is that from
a fresh install (or upgrade)? did this begin happening immediately
after initial install, or days/weeks/months later? what happened to
the system between working ok and not working ok?

please show us the output of entering the following into a terminal

what you have is not a 'normal' problem..._some_thing is amiss in your
system.

Last version of KDE4.6.

I installed nothing in particular. But I installed Dropbox from Contrib Repo.

It is independent by the application, sometimes it doesn't work also when no applications run.

I don't tested flash.

You're right. It is very strange. I attended opensuse 11.4 because I had problems reguard to nvidia driver with 11.3.
I come from two installations, I prefer a fresh installation rather than the upgrade, and there was this problem in both installations.

until that guru comes you might want to TRY this:

use YaST to add a new test user, then log out of the current session
and then back in as the new test user....and, use the system a while..

see if the mouse does as it should:

1. *if* it does we know that there is something in a configuration
file in your /home/[you] directory which is NOT the same as in the
working ok /home/[newTest] directory..

2. if it is the _same_ broke as when logged in as yourself, then my
next guess is
a. graphics driver, or
b. conflicting software

let us know what you find.

hopefully that guru comes around soon..

Really strange!!!

I download KDE LIVE iso and after tried it (without problems), I install openSuse by live version.
Now I am testing the new fresh os, which appears to work.
I've just installed also nvidia driver without problems. Slowly I am adding several softwares, so I can look for any possible bugs.
The older iso, is a dvd, that I used successfully during the installation on my desktop. So I think it isn't broken.

congrats on the fix!!

go slowly...add only one application and then check thoroughly for any
strange behavior so that you can catch what is causing the problem (if
it comes back)....then report the bug and after the dev has asked all
the questions needed to fix it, you can back level to the great system
again..
