Color problem with KDE4, Konsole, and Midnight Commander.

This problem has been bugging me since KDE4 starting shipping.

In konsole, if you use the default black on white profile, and you start Midnight Commander, the color of the MC screen is the default blue color it has always been.

However, if you change to the green on black profile, which is the one that I prefer, and you start MC, the blue changes to some unreadable light robin egg blue which is horrid.

I’m making a huge assumption here, but it looks like something is off with the green on black profile in Konsole. Try it yourself and you will see what I mean. This only started with KDE4, but it still persists through every version to current.

I would really like to solve this issue. Anyone know what would fix this?

Thanks.
James

OK, figured it out myself.

Decided to compare color schemes instead of being lazy and blowing it off until later like I have been…

Profile “Green on Black”

Change color #5 from #1818B2 to #5CA7FB

Can’t believe it was that simple. This has solved 90% of my issues with KDE4.

Only 90% though, mind you…

oh man! you get my highly coveted “Best Post of the Week award”!!

on KDE3 i used green on black, and mc (a lot)…installing KDE4 i
spent about 27 seconds trying to figure out how make mc usable in
green on black and reverted to white on black…

until now–THANKS…

but, there is one error in your fix:
#5 is born #5CA7FB and needs a change to #1818B2

Wow, your absolutely right, good catch.

I pasted them into the post backwards from the clipboard. My bad…

For the record: Change color #5 from #5CA7FB to #1818B2

I’m glad that someone can appreciate how much this drove me nuts.
Had plenty of time to complain, never enough time to fix it…until now. (Home sick this week…)

Glad it helped you out. Hope it helps others.
